Our Mission
The mission of the Association of Independent Childbirth Educators is:
- to provide independent, evidence-based information, support, and resources for pregnant women and their families.
- to raise public awareness of the need for independent sources of information and the resources for that information.
- to provide information and support to childbirth educators, doulas, midwives, and breastfeeding support professionals.
- to conduct courses and seminars to provide unbiased information about healthy pregnancies, births, and postnatal care.
Our Values
We subscribe to the following rights:
- The right of women to complete, accurate, and unbiased information about their choices in pregnancy and birth.
- The right of women to choose the place of birth, her companions, and care providers.
- The right of birth professionals to present all evidence-based information at their disposal, without being limited by the strictures of a certain method or theory.
What Moves Us!
We believe that KNOWLEDGE SHARE among women will create the change that women desire in their health care and their birth experiences. l; There isn't a "right" way to birth. There isn't any "blame" for your birth experience. You learn. You choose. You'd be surprised that learning what makes for a wonderful birth experience also makes for a healthy birth experience.
